Physical Description Finn is exceptionally fresh faced and always well-groomed to the point many people think he is younger than he is. He loves this. Finn’s skin has a natural tan to it, most likely down to the amount of time he likes to spend in the sun. He is naturally on the thinner yet strong and more athletic end of the physique spectrum. Finn sometimes grows a beard out to help him look more his age. His hair is shaved short on the sides with a little length on the top he can play with for either work, party or play. When working on something particularly intricate, Finn is known to wear a set of glasses to reduce the strain on his eyes.

Finn has a full left arm sleeve tattoo that encroaches on his chest on the same side. It begins at his wrist with flowers, rising to become trees that reach to the sky. On his upper arm, leading to his chest, it becomes a space and nebula scene. He is currently planning one for his back, across his shoulders and is yet to find the right inspiration for it.

He sometimes wears corrective lenses when his eyes get tired. He has never thought it severe enough to get any surgery or other corrective procedures for them.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Finn is the reformed bad boy that everyone knows and seems to have a soft spot for. While usually, he is the friendly, bubbly and approachable type he is known to shift back into his more charming, mischievous and overconfident ways if needs must, or a particular situation or person calls for it.

He is warm and easy going off duty and known to be the life and soul of any party. He likes to think of himself as a best friend to all and loves nothing more than the company of others.
This is a man who knows how to play hard, but at the same time, knows how to work hard. He takes his work seriously, most of the time. Finn is known to crack a joke in a tense situation. His choice of humour tends to lean to the more sarcastic side, so people who are easily offended can take a while to warm to him.

Finn takes his duty seriously and gives it the respect and importance it deserves. He genuinely tries to have a friendly rapport with all the crew, so they feel comfortable approaching him at any time they need.
Strengths & Weaknesses Finn is kind, caring and overly protective of those he holds close to him. Normally under pressure, he has a calm façade aiding him to be a confident leader in times of crisis.

Finn has an impulsive nature and does not necessarily allow others time to catch up to his way of thinking or pointing out flaws in a plan. Add to a natural impatience he has grown over the years and this often can get him into trouble. Finn tends to have a wandering eye when single and an attractive man is known to draw his attention and cloud his focus.
Ambitions To become a Chief Engineer.

To work at the Advanced Starship Design Bureau at Utopia Planitia focusing on the next generation of starships.
Hobbies & Interests Finn is a keen player of any social drinking game. He loves nothing more than to host a relaxing evening of food, drinks and games. He is a talented mixologist from working part time at bars around the Academy when he was studying. Finn is also a talented guitar player and is currently indulging his interest in the gym to bulk up his self-proclaimed ‘skinny frame’. You will most likely find him in the gym or the lounge, playing his guitar and singing old Earth ‘country’ music.

Personal History Coming from a less than traditional family is a point of pride for Finn. He could not have asked for a better upbringing than he got with his two fathers and two older sisters. Never knowing his mother never really bothered him, Finn knew about her, her passing and from a young age was encouraged to visit her grave, and remaining family was a way to stay connected and be thankful. While one father was his biological and the other adopted he made no distinction and tried to keep it, so he never knew which was which. To him, one was Dad and the other Pop or Popsicle if he needs something. His sisters were typical older sisters, tormented him but loved him dearly and would do anything for him. As they were both a few years older than Finn when he was born, they loved looking after their baby brother and secretly still like to, to this day.

From a young age, Finn knew exactly the type of person he was, he liked fixing things, he liked making things, he liked pulling things apart to see how they worked, he liked making models of things, and he liked boys. In a way, this was both a good and bad thing. His family knew exactly what he wanted and how to cater for it, and it leads Finn to find his adventures too. Many a time his fathers would be called to the principal’s office of his elementary school for something he had either demolished for parts or created something that caused a mild explosion in the playground. To this day no one lets him forget the time he tried to add a new frictionless surface to the slide that caused someone to fly so far off the slide they got stuck in a tree. Being grounded for such things lead to his love of model making. Usually, he made models from kits of existing ships, sometimes using those parts to make his own or often he loved the giant robotic suit kind that he could customise.

Middle school saw no real change in Finn, only dating was added to the mix. Towards the end of middle school, he came into his own. While he was more geek than jock, he knew he could still attract the attention of others. His first kiss was with a lab partner under the stairs of the science block. It was at this point when his intelligence shone through. There were times he just had to know more and would spend many an after school asking his teachers about things or studying.
High school was much of the same, more trouble and parties, yet stellar grades, a new boyfriend every other month until his final year. Finn found a kindred soul in Ryan Ashcroft, a bit of a geek like himself but more musical theatre than technological. They did the whole prom and met the parent's thing, and for once in a long while, Finn felt settled, happy and content. And, as all high school romances tend to do, it came to an abrupt end when the school did. Finn was more than happy and content to keep seeing Ryan, heading out to New York when he could, as Ryan had been accepted into AMDA. Ryan, on the other hand, wanted to head out an ‘explore more possibilities’. The pair has not spoken since.

This leads a return to form for Finn at the Academy. Good grades, but now parties, alcohol and boys. He was beginning to get a bit of a reputation on campus as the party boy who always seemed to pull things together at the last moment and still get top marks. This attracted a crowd of the wrong sort of people who only wanted to be a friend for the parties he threw. He did have one good friend though, Peter Johansson. He was the one who saw Finn’s behaviour as a cry for attention and change. He suggested Finn join him in some part time work in a new bar that opened in the Castro District called Glitter. It was a fun and friendly bar that gave Finn a challenge he needed and a new set of skills. It wouldn’t be long until he became a ‘show barman’ with many tricks pours and bottle spinning skills to show off. The pair became inseparable and even moved to a small off campus apartment together on the same street as the bar. It wasn’t long until rumours started that the Engineering/Barman team were an item, when in fact they were just very, very close. They would often curl up on the sofa to study together or watch a holomovie. They would always head to their beds though until one-night Peter took Finn’s hand and they went there together. Nothing happened, nor would for several months, they were quite content in an emotionally supportive relationship.

When things began to get more serious, there were rumours flying around the bar that Peter was cheating. Knowing the bar scene, it was likely just jealous types, and Finn brushed it off. They continued to be together as well as the stories until their final year. The night before graduation, Glitter held a large party for some of the departing cadets and their families. Finn was walking around with a ring in his pocket all night, waiting for the right moment to ask Peter to marry him in front of all their friends and family. Alas, Peter was caught in a back booth with a slightly older man’s arm around his shoulders kissing his neck. Never had Finn felt more betrayed. To him, the rest of the evening was a tear filled blur of Peter denying the years of rumours and that moment was with an old friend. While the two broke up, they remain friends, and to this day Peter still denies any malice behind his actions. Finn still misses their relationship considerably, resulting in him only focusing on his work and having a string of bad dates and failed relationships.
Service Record The Academy wasn’t too much of a challenge for Finn, for his instructors, on the other hand, Finn was the challenge. He constantly questioned, never in front of his class, but always stayed behind out of respect for the teacher. His thirst for knowledge and knowing the intricate workings of everything pushed him to read beyond the syllabus, explore out of the remit and try things in the lab no one expected. He often took on other projects and assisted upper-class men with their studies. He could have pushed himself to complete things and years quicker but was in no rush. Finn enjoyed the stimulating environment of the Academy, having like minds to debate subjects with and challenge his thinking. While here he took a job at a bar just off campus to mix in with Academy life and experience. Finn graduated at the top of his School of Engineering class.

Upon advancing to Ensign, he was assigned to a small Miranda class as his first assignment. It was here he finally got to put all of his knowledge in a real, working and at times, dangerous, environment. It wouldn’t be too long until Finn felt he needed a further challenge and sought out chances for further research until his eventual redeployment or hopefully promotion. Which came in the form of a joint venture between some of his former Academy professors and the Advanced Starship Design Bureau in advancing warp field mechanics for greater stability at higher speeds. Leading to him eventually publishing his paper on some discoveries he made that some superior officers dismissed due to his lack of in field experience. The article went on to be selected for real world trial and application on a classified starship design from Utopia Planitia. Here Finn learned the process of testing and how to save a warp core from exploding, imploding or some other fiasco by the skin of his teeth. He was humbled by not being able to prove his theory entirely but grateful to be contributing in some small way. Thanks to the team he was working with some of the next generation of starships can hold onto their maximum warp for just that little bit longer.

Finn now awaits his next assignment and hopes for a position with more challenge and responsibility.
