Personality & Traits

General Overview Elsa tends to project a stoic personality to the world. Part of this is because, outside of her family, her attractiveness made others tend not to take her seriously in her academic and athletic endeavors. However, for those who are in her inner circle of friends, she can be warm, friendly and, on those very rare occasions that it is heard, has a laugh that is described as "infectious and bubbly."
Strengths & Weaknesses Elsa is calm and analytical in any situation, and keeps her head in an emergency. However, recent events have given her a chip on her shoulder as far as how people perceive her, which she finds herself constantly having to keep herself "in check" about.
Ambitions After her "service" in the Consortium, Elsa had resigned herself to being discharged from the Fleet, and had been given serious thought to a civilian career. With the offer to head the Vindex's Science Department, Elsa is feeling cautiously optimistic about her renewed Starfleet career.

Personal History Elsa is the oldest of the two children born to the proprietors and operators of one of the most popular tea houses in Stockholm. Elsa would tell you that she enjoyed an idyllic childhood, following her Uncle as he moved from research station to research station and enjoying all the outdoor activities and intellectual pursuits that living in Scandinavia allowed.

At the age of four, Elsa was telling a gathering of family friends all her adventures when she visited her Uncle while he was working at a research station located near Murmansk. One of the older women commented that Elsa was much too pretty a child to be doing "things like that." Her uncle replied that Elsa's attractiveness was incidental to the person she was and would become.

It was a maxim that Elsa would take to heart. She eschewed anything that remotely resembled a romantic relationship, throwing herself into her academic and athletic endeavors. As she got older, she tended ignored any romantic overtures toward her and, when that wasn't enough, was brutally dismissive of them. Elsa had her tight circle of friends, but they were strictly platonic.

Getting accepted to Starfleet Academy was one of the highlights of her life. She excelled in the Physics classes she took, particularly her advanced classes in Particle Physics, where she received the highest marks in her class. Upon graduation, she was initially assigned as a junior officer in the Flight Control department of the USS Cukela, a Prometheus class starship. Within a couple of weeks of her assignment, her propensity for particle physics received her a transfer to the Engineering Departments, and her cool head and reactions during an incident with the Driver Coils during Gamma Shift brought her to the attention of the Chief Engineer. Scuttlebutt was that she was slated for an early promotion.

Then Dmitri Bogolyubov conducted a masterful takeover of the Cukela.

In the aftermath of the takeover, officers and crewmembers of the Cukela who had not been participants of the mutiny were killed outright, imprisoned or given a chance to join "the winning side."

The execution of the Chief Engineer in front of her convinced Elsa that she needed to bide her time until the opportunity to disable the Cukela presented itself. Elsa had a reputation as a competent but standoffish junior officer, which made Dmitri decide that perhaps she could be co-opted into the new Cukela hierarchy.

And so Elsa's subterfuge began. She initially thought she would only last a couple of weeks, until an opportunity in the engineering section would present itself. And then Elsa found herself building a cabal of individuals who were either like her, waiting for an opportunity to strike, or were disaffected mutineers, less than enthused with life in the Consortium. And so a junior officer began putting in motion an ostentatious plan to retake the Cukela for Starfleet.

And then Consortium intelligence delivered the Renown into the Cukela's lap. Faced with the imminent capture or destruction of the Renown, Elsa abandoned her initial plan and formulated a new one on the fly. In the end, she was able to save the Renown and permanently cripple the Cukela before it escaped.

However, Elsa's return to Starfleet was met with suspicion, and she had resigned herself to being courtmartialled and discharged from Starfleet. So it came as shock when not only were disciplinary charges not brought against her, but she actually received a promotion and a department head assignment on the Vindex.
Service Record 2382-2386 -- Starfleet Academy (majored in particle physics, graduated with honors)
2386-2387 -- Assigned to USS Cukela in Flight Control Department, transferred to Engineering after meritorious handling of Driver Coil emergency
2387-2388 -- USS Cukela is taken over in mutiny led by Dmitri Bogolyubov, who brings the Cukela into the Consortium Fleet. Elsa engages in a course of subterfuge, allowing Consortium authorities to believe she had willingly allowed herself to be co-opted. Then end result of this gambit was the rescue of the USS Renown and the crippling of the USS Cukela
2388 -- Promoted to Lieutenant JG, assigned as department head of the Science Division of the USS Vindex
2388 -- Promoted to Lieutenant, third officer of the USS Vindex
