Reshuffling the Deck

Posted on Thu Oct 20th, 2016 @ 9:59pm by Captain Claudia Ainscow & Lieutenant JG Imogen Kaz

Mission: S1E1 - Booby Trap
Location: Deck 1; Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: Mission Day 7; 13:00

Claudia had appointed Akiva has her new XO which had left her without a Chief of Operations - so after having a think she had decided to merge Strategic Operations into Operations, Tactical and Intelligence to give each department more personnel. Lieutenant Kaz was the Chief Strategic Operations Officer - and Claudia decided she would be the best option to fill the gap that Akiva had left as he moved up the command chain.

=/\="Ainscow to Kaz. Please meet me in my ready room"=/\= Claudia said.

Imogen had been finishing off the reports on her department when the CO had called her.

=/\="Kaz here, on my way Commander!"=/\= She said, shutting off her PADD and walking out of her office to the turbolift. She arrived on the bridge, and walked over to the ready room, ringing the buzzer.

Claudia called Imogen into her ready room - pleased that she had been so prompt in her response to the call. It had been a difficult day so far but she was hoping things would take a more positive turn after she met with Captain Hutchinson face to face.

"Come in!" Claudia called.

Imogen walked in, and stood in front of the Commanders desk.

"Reporting as ordered Commander." She said, smiling.

Claudia smiled and offered Imogen a seat before she started speaking.

"Thank you Lieutenant. Now it's a long story but to make it shorter we've had a change in the command structure so Mr ben-Avram has been promoted up to First Officer and has vacated his position as Chief of Operations. I've decided to close Strategic Operations and move people around to boost a couple of departments - I'd like to offer you the Chief of Operations position" Claudia said.

Imogen sat down, nodding as Claudia continued. When she finished she thought for a few moments. "I'd love to take the position ma'am, when would you like me to start?" She asked, smiling.

Claudia was pleased that Imogen was happy to take up the new position as it saved her looking to take an officer from somewhere else. She knew a few departures were imminent but with the crew available on board Claudia was confident most of those could be covered by internal transfers.

"Excellent. As soon as you're ready really - although the paperwork might mean it doesn't take official effect until tomorrow. If you want to start getting ready to move things over to Operations I can take care of the paperwork. Mr ben-Avram can cover Operations until everything's sorted then he'll transfer things over to you. How does that sound?" Claudia replied.

"Sounds good, but i'd like to keep the office I have now if that's ok? It would make things alot easier for me." She said, smiling at the Captain.

Claudia nodded. "That won't be a problem Lieutenant. The office Akiva will vacate will become a spare seeing as we're losing a department head as a result of the reshuffle. Is there anything else you'd like to ask me?"

"Only one I can think of is manpower. Will we be making the Operations department bigger? Or sending Strat Ops people to other departments?" She asked.

Claudia smiled. "We haven't worked out the distribution yet but I suspect it'll be a fairly even number of people going to Intelligence, Operations and Tactical"

Imogen nodded. "If it's ok, i'll send you a list of people i'd like to keep, then i'm sure we can sort something out so I get a few of them." She said smiling back.

"That's fine Lieutenant. If you get that over to me as soon as possible then I'll have that arranged for you as best as we can. I don't think it should be a problem though" Claudia replied.

Imogen nodded. "Thank you ma'am, I won't let you down. Is there anything else I can do for you?" She asked, rising from her seat.

"I think that's about it for now Lieutenant. Thank you for your co-operation in this - I'll have the Quartermaster update your uniform too. Is there anything else you have to ask me before you leave?" Claudia replied with a smile.

"Nothing that I can think of, thank you for this opportunity!" Imogen said, smiling, before turning and leaving the room. She hoped she was ready for this challenge, but only time would tell.
