Four Captains Meet

Posted on Wed Nov 23rd, 2016 @ 7:42pm by Captain Claudia Ainscow & Rear Admiral David Hutchinson Sr

Mission: S1E2 - Unity
Location: Observation Lounge; USS Vindex
Timeline: Mission Day 9; 20:00

The Vindex and Renown had successfully located the Brandenburg and Sarek right where Tolan said they would be. After convincing Captain Cacod Suhea of the Brandenburg and Commander T'Freja of the Sarek to join their cause and help the fleet at Starbase Unity the Benzite and Vulcan officers respectively had beamed aboard the Vindex to meet Captain Ainscow and Captain Hutchinson to discuss the finer details of the situation.

"It's a good thing you found us Captain. We were convinced that we were alone" Cacod said.

Claudia smiled. "There's more than just us four believe me. There's at least another fourteen starships out there on our side - even if we've got less of the more powerful ships"

Although David wasn't under the command of Task Force 9 his crew had unanimously voted in favour of helping them out as much as they could. It was an extra starship against the Consortium's more powerful fleet.

"I agree - it is agreeable that you have found us. How did you know where we were? Forgive me but I doubt you found us by chance Captain Ainscow" T'Freja replied.

Claudia nodded. "You're right - it wasn't by chance. We have a mission advisor on board who told us about where you were. He was the one who told us about the threat to Starbase Unity and told us we could find you here and support the fleet...that is...if you want to"

"We need all the help we can get. The force at Unity is very weak with a handful of 'big hitters' - five at the most. The rest consist of much smaller ships...even a hospital ship. I don't think they'd be able to stand up to what The Consortium can throw at Unity for very long" David commented.

Cacod spoke. "And what about the enemy? What have they amassed to attack the base? How long do we have to get there?"

"We estimate around fifteen starships - all of which are more than a match for the bulk of the defence fleet. So in basic terms they outgun and outnumber us - which is why I'm asking you to join us and help out as much as we can. I know it's risky but with four extra ships it could buy some more time or even turn the tide against them" Claudia replied.

T'Freja countered. "As much as we'd like to we're in no fit shape for combat. Our supplies are low and we've lost a few people - how could we be of any use?"

"I have to agree. My ship is damaged and we're struggling to complete the repairs with the losses we've incurred as well as the lack of supplies we have. However if both of you were able to help with the repairs to the Brandenburg I'd be happy to join you" Cacod said.

David looked at Claudia who gave him a nod.

"I'm more than happy to help where I can. We can spare you some materials to complete the repairs - what is it we're talking about Captain?" David replied.

Cacod smiled. "Thank you Captain. We mostly need help with the actual repairs but if you can spare us some plasma injectors and power cells I'd be very grateful"

"I'll have my Chief Engineer send some over and lend a hand with the repairs. What about you Commander?" David replied.

T'Freja's ship was in a similar position with personnel losses also suffered although the damage to the Sarek was much less than the Brandenburg. Sickbay was overrun with injuries and there was simply no way of her Medical team working any faster.

"I could do with some assistance in the Sarek's sickbay. Anything either of you can spare will be most appreciated" T'Freja said.

Claudia nodded. "I'll have some supplies and staff sent over as soon as possible. I'll also send some staff from Engineering to assist on the Brandenburg"

"How long do we have before we have to leave?" Cacod asked.

Claudia shrugged. "We estimate the attack will happen in around a week - so at the most I'd be looking to head for Starbase Unity in no more than 24 hours at the absolute most. It will take us at least six days to get there at the Renown's maximum warp capability so every minute we can get being en-route counts"

"I guess we should get to work. Who will serve as the lead ship?" T'Freja asked.

David spoke. "I'd suggest the Brandenburg as Captain Suhea is the most senior in terms of structure"

"Whilst I appreciate that Captain my ship isn't in a state to lead a task group into battle - even if we carry out the basic repairs. I would suggest the Vindex is more suitable seeing as it's in a better shape than the Brandenburg. What do you think Captain Ainscow?" Cacod said.

Claudia nodded. "We can do that. Is there anything else or shall we get on with the repairs?"

With David, Cacod and T'Freja all rising at almost the same time Claudia took that as a sign it was time to get down to business - after all every second counted. She escorted the trio back to the nearest transporter room where they all took turns to transport back to their respective ships before Claudia set off to find Cara and Soren to help their new found friends.
