A Checkup to Remember

Posted on Fri Jun 24th, 2016 @ 8:45pm by Lieutenant Noah Fields M.D.

Mission: S1E1 - Booby Trap
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: I honestly don't care...evening time? sure.

Laena walked into the large room that held the ship's main Sickbay. She was quite surprised at the size. She was used to a large Sickbay from being on Deep Space 10, but didn't expect the starship equivalent to be so big. Looking around, she was also surprised that no one seemed to be available. She was hoping to find a Doctor of some sorts, but at this point, she'd settle for a Nurse. Hell a tech might even do.

"Hello?" she called out, tho she wasn't very loud.

Noah walked out of his office wearing his lab coat over his duty uniform "May I help you," he asked the Petty Officer.

"Hello," she said, walking towards the man. "I'm Petty Officer Laena, Stellar Cartography. I was instructed to check in with the medical staff." Laena stopped when she reached the man. "I also have some...personal medical needs that I wanted to make the Chief Medical Officer aware of."

"I am the doctor you're looking for," Noah said. "What sort of needs?" He led Laena to a biobed. The doctor rolled a cart and picked up a PaDD and a stylus. He continued to speak as he called up her medical history on the portable device, "Your previous doctor never mentioned...Oh...I see."

Noah's hand shook as he put the PaDD down onto the metal surface. "You're half Orion. I can replicate the required medication as soon as I can."

Laena smiled, "Thank you, but I received my last injection a few days ago. I should be good for another two days. I just wanted to touch base to make sure you were aware."

"Thank you Petty Officer I am glad that you came to tell me," Noah returned her smile. "I can perform your exam now or when you come in for your injection. That is up to you."

"I'm already here, so no sense in wasting your time any more than I have to." Laena gracefully lifted herself onto the biobed and sat still. "Will you need me to remove any part of my uniform?" she asked.

"No," Noah picked up his tricorder and removed the sensor fob. "Any pain recently? Headaches? Muscle aches?"

Laena shook her head, "I feel perfectly normal," she said in response.

Noah remained silent as he made his adjustments and scans over Laena, "Everything seems to be working well. You do have a slight Blood pressure elevation but that is common with Orions on Telexor. Which tells me that it's working on keeping your pheromones in check."

"Honestly..." Laena looked away. "I'm not sure. I can't tell if it's the pheromones or my exotic ethnicity that makes people look at me the way they do."

"It could be both," Noah replied. "But that's something you'd have to figure out."

While not exactly the answer she wanted, it was at least the answer she expected. "Thank you, Doctor."

"You're welcome," he said with a smile. "If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. I'll be in my office at least for another four hours."

The woman nodded and slid off the biobed. "Thank you, sir," she said, before walking out of Sickbay
