Mission: S2E1 - Secrets
Location: Function Room
Timeline: Mission Day 84; 16:00

The wedding ceremony had gone well and the newly married couple had retired to their quarters for a couple of hours to prepare for the meal - with both Claudia and Rebecca changing into something a bit less bulky although retaining their veils. Arriving in the function room first the two women admired the beautiful two tiered wedding cake Paul had baked for them - in addition to the bottles of wine and champagne he had left on ice for the guests - as well as a choice of soft drinks for those who preferred a soft drink.

"I hope everyone got the invite. It was a bit last minute" Claudia said.

Becky smiled. "I'm sure they did - don't worry about it CeCe it'll be fine"

"Yeah - you're right" Claudia replied.

Choosing to remain standing to greet their guests Claudia poured Rebecca a glass of wine and an orange juice for herself. They couldn't wait to spend some time with their closest friends and share the rest of their day with them.

Akiva perched in the corner, a consummate bystanding wallflower. The last time he had been in this room lingered in his mind -- the Mad Vulcan Saalkan had declared his intentions to kill everyone and take over the ship.

No one needed help setting up. Akiva had asked. Twice. Rather than make himself a nuisance, he had resigned himself to the corner to watch the happy couple while not throwing up on his shoes.

Biynah excused herself from her conversation with Grace to make her way over to him.

"Abba, are you well?"

"No, yediydah," he replied with a wan smile. "But I will be. Go have fun."

Biynah grinned and made a curtsy with her gown for the umpteenth time before heading back to her sister.

"You were right, Grace. He said he will be fine."

Grace liked to think he would be fine but looking at Akiva she wasn't really sure. Trying to stop Biynah and anyone else worrying she insisted that he would be.

"Of course he will. I hope everyone gets here soon though I'm really hungry" Grace replied.

Martha was fashionably late as always. She had been busy with transferring her belongings down to Nova Mercia where she had accepted a role as Head of Starfleet Tactical for the Gamma Mercia - her career ambition fulfilled after just four years in the field. Upon arrival she walked up to the happy couple and presented them with a bottle of champagne from her personal collection.

"Congratulations Mrs and Mrs Ainscow. I'm happy for you both and I'm sorry I missed the ceremony - however I'm sure you'll be back for semi-regular visits" Martha said.

Claudia smiled. "Thank you Martha. I'm sure we will"

Rebecca embraced Martha tightly. The Yeoman had grown very fond of Martha and she was now leaving them after just two months on board. It was a sad farewell but it was a promotion that Becky felt Martha completely deserved.

"We'll miss you Martha. We all will" Becky commented.

Martha smiled. "I'll miss you all too"

Following the meal Claudia had disappeared for a short while to check her schedule for the next day and she returned with Victor in tow. Standing in front of the table which still had a full wedding cake on Claudia raised a glass and tapped it gently to get everyone's attention.

"If I can have your attention for a few moments please. I'd like you all to welcome our new Chief Tactical Officer Lieutenant Victor Alexander who has joined us following Commander Cusack's promotion to lead Starfleet's Tactical Operations on Nova Mercia" Claudia said.

"It's a pleasure to be here as your new Chief of Security," Victor said as he gave his trademark smile, showing off his perfect teeth while holding up two bottles of exotic liqour, "I also bring libations from my well-stocked liquor cabinet." He sat the two large bottles of liquor down on the table and picked up a nearby flute of Champagne holding it aloft in the air, "Cheers to the happy couple!"

Soren reached to pour some of the new Security officers liquor, "Cheers! I think we'll get along just fine Lieutenant."

Martha raised a glass of champagne and toasted to the happy couple. This was going to be her last night on the Vindex and she fully intended to make the most of it. Up to now the Vindex had been her favourite assignment and the Sovereign-class vessel would always have a special place in her heart.

Claudia beamed and looked at her wife. She couldn't believe just how well the day had gone - and now the Vindex was finally getting to do some exploring everything was coming together nicely.

Grace held up her glass of orange juice and looked around the room to see who else was there. There weren't many people around and she was sad her friend Elsie had moved down to Nova Mercia - but at least she still had Biynah.

"So when will you get married?" Biynah whispered to Grace.

Grace giggled. "Never"
